This month, the University of Florida was ranked #10 among American Public Universities for supercomputer speed. (see http://www.top500.org/lists/2013/11/ ) UF was ranked #14 among all public and private American universities and #46 among all international universities. This ranking is due to the new HiPerGator supercomputer that made its UF debut in Spring 2013. The purchase and installation of this machine was a true team project, with contributions from many faculty grants, the Office of the CIO, the Office of Research, and the Office of the Provost.
