Please be aware of an upcoming shutdown and power outage for all UFRC facilities.

When will this happen?
The shutdown of resources will begin at 6:00 p.m. on Sunday, May 3, 2015 with a complete loss of power at 7:00 a.m. on Monday, May 4, 2015. UFRC resources will be unavailable for approximately twelve hours, until at least 7:00 p.m. on Monday, May 4, 2015.

How will this affect users?
All running jobs will be lost when the machines in the data center lose power. Queued jobs not running at the time of the power loss will remain queued. Additionally, there will be no access to any UFRC interactive, computing, or storage facilities until approximately 7:00 p.m. on Monday, May 4, 2015. Users will not be able to log in, jobs will not run, and our web site will be inaccessible.

Why is this necessary?
Renovations are underway in the UF Data Center to accommodate HiPerGator2. In order to deliver the power required by HiPerGator2, very high voltage power connections must be completed to new and existing circuit switching equipment. To perform this work safely and without risk to the electricians, the power must be turned off.

Is there anything I can do to prepare?
We recommend that users review their running and submitted jobs just prior to the shutdown so that they will have some idea of what jobs may need to be resubmitted. Users should also make a local copy of any data or files that they must have access to between the hours of 7:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m. on Monday, May 4, 2015.
