Dr. Sivaramakrishnan “Bala” Balachandar is the chairman and William F. Powers Professor of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering at the University of Florida.

Dr. Balachandar’s research concentrates on computational fluid science (CFD), large-scale simulation of complex flows, transition and turbulence, multiphase flows, and environmental flows. Because of this varied research, he uses the UF HPC Center’s systems to carry out this research, averaging two-hundred thousand hours a month in computation time.

When Dr. Balachandar is not conducting research, he likes to tell the occasional joke.
